Safeguarding and Protecting Children - a training manual in home study format, written especially for coaches, sports leaders, sports governing bodies and local authorities. VIEW THIS BOOK

Code of Ethics and Conduct for Sports Coaches - a booklet adopted by many governing bodies of sport as their professional ethical framework for coaches. VIEW THIS BOOK

Are your young people safe? Is your coaching sound? - leaflet helping coaches create a safe sports environment for young people, adopting sound procedures, promoting young people's welfare and protecting coaches against false allegations. VIEW THIS BOOK

Organisations responsible for child protection in sport

There are several organisations that have a remit for child protection in sport. These are outlined below:

Child Protection in Sport Unit are an important contact for child protection. The organisation was established to co-ordinate and support sports organisation. They can provide you with information on child protection issues, advice, details of courses and resources available. Their website is geared towards coaches, sports professionals, and sports organisations.

Sports coach UK are a national organisation responsible for the development of coaching in the UK. They are committed to raising the awareness of child protection and ensuring that sport if fun and safe for all children. They can help be providing information on child protection workshops.

The national governing body for your sport will also have responsibility for child protection and ensuring that their sport is addressing the standards set by government agencies. Governing bodies in Wales are developing child protection policies for their sport. To find out what's being done in your sport you will need to contact the governing body.
